Urgent: Legends of Aria is leaving Steam

Notice from July 2022

Legends of Aria recently announced that the game is being removed from Steam, but it remains listed at this time during a grace period to allow existing users time to move to standalone accounts.

New players should avoid Steam and use the normal standalone version of the game.

Existing Steam users please see the announcement posted in the LOA Discord for details on how to migrate your account from Steam to a standalone account.

Please note that Shards of Britannia staff has no control over the Steam migration process, please direct all concerns or questions to Legends of Aria staff.

  • An issue was resolved with Archery continuing to shoot while players are moving
    - An issue was resolved allowing players to rapidly shoot bows by quickly unequipping and reequipping bows

(This was meant to be posted sooner, but did not get published erroneously.)

The stablemasters have started to slowly restock their inventory.

Due to a union-related issue, Stable Masters are not able to sell any animals at this time. We hope the result of their strike is that they are remunerated fairly and equitably, and they can return to providing a service that we all appreciate very much in the near future.

Please be reminded that claiming to be a staff member of LoU or LOA when you are not is considered a violation of our rules under Communication and Player Conduct - Part 6 which is publicly visible at https://legendsofultima.gamepedia.com/Server_Rules -- if someone does not have the Staff role in Discord or does not appear in-game with a Yellow name and Counselor/Guild Master title then they are most likely not a staff member.

Also please be reminded that this is one of the reasons, for security, that we do not provide support via Discord. Please make sure to report suspected rule violations via an in-game page, or an email to [email protected] -- this is the only way to be sure you are speaking to a member of the LOU Team.

In order to evaluate a potential performance concern, World Chat will remain disabled for a few days while we collect further data. Thanks for your patience.

Claire the Pilgrim, found in Magincia, offers some of her festive wares for trade. Seek out festive turkeys in the Eastern Frontier for what she seeks. (Event runs until 01 Dec at 1200 EST)

The temporary 10% bonus to skills has now been concluded and the gain chance will be restored to normal soon.

The patch posted in #test-center-patch-notes has been delayed for some time. The changes will remain on our Test Center for further testing. Thanks for your patience and helping with testing. :)

Service has been restored.

A quick note regarding the skill bonus that we have enabled post rollback - it is a 10% bonus on the base gain, so you won't see it reflected in skillgaindebug. The increase is already applied to the first percentage shown.

Further to our previous announcement, we have found the root cause for the data loss issue and implemented a hotfix. We expect to restore service shortly after this announcement.

Unfortunately, in order to address the issue, we need to perform a rollback. This is necessary in order to ensure data integrity moving forward, as ideally we want to maintain our 'no wipe' stance at all costs. We have considered all other options available to us at this time.

A quick timeline on both the downtime and the rollback are as follows:

-- An issue with data integrity was identified at approx. 10:30pm UTC/5:30pm EST -- LoU was taken offline to further investigate -- In order to address the issue, we have rolled back to approx 10:00am UTC/5:00am EST

We appreciate this is a significant loss of progress. Unfortunately these things can occur when a game is under heavy development such as we are. Investigations into the issue are still ongoing in order to track down and eliminate this type of issue moving forward.

We have enabled a skill gain increase on the server as a method of compensation. This will remain active until we determine that it is no longer necessary. Thank you once again for your patience.

We will also be considering options for compensation for the rollback and will advise on those once we have had an opportunity to discuss fully. Thank you once again for your patience.

Due to a potential data loss situation, the server is being taken offline. There is no ETA for restoration of services at this time. Thank you for your patience.

  • An issue has been resolved preventing players from removing clothing from their own vendors
    - An issue has been resolved with the clothing bless deed not working with 2019 Halloween handouts

Next Friday, Nov 8th, at a time to be determined, we will be applying a patch that will prevent players from moving/rotating locked down objects outside the bounds of their plot. At that time, an autofix will be applied detecting any pre-existing objects that are out of the plot bounds and moving them back inside the plot to a valid position. Please note that this may not neatly move objects and you may end up with breaks in fence lines if that occurs. Please take this time to analyze any decorations you may have extending past your plot bounds/lines and please move them back so that they are not overlapping.

Additionally, with the changes to lockdown location validation, we will also be adding the Ban List and Auto-Eject for plots. This will now properly track targets banned from a plot and prevent them from re-entering. A new tab to manage the bans has also been added to the plot menu. When a target is ejected from a plot, they are put near the mailbox, which is why it is important that we no longer have interconnected plots and over-extended decorations.

  • An issue with Pet Brokers being moved on or off of house plot when decorating and moving/rotating items onto the same position as the vendor has been resolved

After the defeat of Mr. Vorhees, The Mad Scientist has vowed to destroy all! They await in Wyvern's rest (once every few hours). Good luck

Halloween coffins now spawn near Juka Isle and Scorched Print Halloween spawns. Inside you will find increased Candy corn drop chances, rare monsters and the chance for a rare Halloween item.

An issue with players being unable to open the Plot Menu when the plot has a Guild assigned and the character is in a different guild than is assigned to the Plot has been resolved.

As part of LoU's Halloween events Danyc the Candy Goblin has arrived in Nujel'm. Check out areas around Gazer Isle, The Dunes, Scorched Print and Wyvern's Rest to acquired his much needed Halloween Candy! Danyc has various Halloween items to trade, but will only be in town until 1 Nov. Stay tuned for more Halloween announcements on Discord.
