We know that many of you have been patiently waiting for updates and improvements, and we wanted to address some of the concerns that have been circulating recently.

First and foremost, we want to remind everyone that we are a team of volunteers who work on this project in our free time. We don't have the luxury of spending every waking moment on it, but we are doing the best we can with the time we have. We appreciate your understanding and patience as we work to make this game the best it can be.

We value your feedback and take all reports seriously. Please understand that it may take us some time to sort through and process all of the feedback we receive, but we promise to take action on anything that requires it.

We understand that some of you may be feeling frustrated or disappointed with the pace of our progress or perceived lack of action or progress, but we want to assure you that we are committed to making this game a success. We ask for your patience and understanding as we continue to work on it, and we promise to keep you updated on any major developments.

The server will be offline for up to an hour during the next maintenance window at 9am UTC. Thanks for your patience.

From the 1st April 2023, we will no longer support Steam accounts. Those of you currently using them will get a message to that effect when logging into the game, directing you to this form:

The good news is we have a process now to transfer your Steam accounts to regular standalone accounts! April 1st is not the deadline for this, and we will continue to accept Steam transfer requests after that time - however note that you will not be able to log in using your Steam account from April 1st.

Please note that while you may have seen the form before, some of the fields have changed. Please review the form again and ensure we have details of both your existing Steam account, AND your new, clean, empty account with NO CHARACTERS to transfer it to.

Please also note we will ONLY be conducting these transfers for Steam accounts. It's a colossal amount of work, and not viable at this time to handle any other transfer requests.

As per the form, once you have submitted a transfer request, it may take a day or two to finalise as it needs to be done during the nightly maintenance window and relies on the availability of staff to do this. Please be patient with us during this time.

This will be the final step we need to take before we introduce our new features. Sound and music will be first off the rank early in April! We hope you're all looking forward to that as much as we are.

Dear citizens, we have some great news to share with you today!

We have been working hard on developing a method for transferring characters from your Steam accounts to new standalone accounts. We understand how frustrating it can be to have an account that is stuck on Steam, so we're here to help.

If you are still using a Steam account and cannot login with the Shards of Britannia launcher please continue reading:

Firstly, only new & unused accounts can be used to transfer to, any pre-existing accounts will not be eligible

If you have a new & unused account ready, please continue the following:

  1. Make sure you have filled out the Steam Account Issues Form
  2. Some of you have filled out the form already but have filled out the Transfer-To part with an account that already has characters, please make sure you update that with a brand new account instead
  3. Contact Us after you have filled out or updated the form to let us know you are ready for the transfer

A few things to keep in mind:

  • Account age, veteran rewards, and all other account-related information will carry over
  • Patrons will need to update the Patron Registration form to reflect the new Account ID there, if applicable: https://forms.gle/5gdsrX13PVYHnv9QA
  • We will only be transferring characters that are coming from Steam accounts

Transfers will need to be completed during server down-time and will be coordinated during a time when staff is available to complete the transfers. We kindly ask for your patience and understanding throughout this process, thank you!

FINAL THOUGHTS: We will allow several days for everyone to update the Form and also to perform some testing. We will be reaching out to some of you to help us test soon

We've setup a clean Forum instance again at https://forum.shardsofbritannia.com/

It's currently setup for players to post picture of their house decorations. Periodically, as you know, we run House Decoration Contests, and often the decorations go on display for a few weeks and then they get put into the Recycle Bin.

Let's change all that! From now on, we're going to encourage players to post their creations on the forum, at any time, even when we're not doing a contest.

You all put so much time and effort into designing your spaces, we want to make sure your work can be seen by all, and stays around indefinitely if you decide to change things later.

We will probably organize future House Decoration Contests on this forum as well to keep it all in a central place. Discord gets too crowded over time to hold everything, so we hope this works well.

Another update to our launcher has been released. This one lets you launch additional instances of the game from a right click context menu. Simply right click the SoB Launcher icon in your system tray (down near your clock, sound controls etc) and choose 'Launch' to launch another client.

As always, if you have any issues with the launcher automatically updating, or don't see the new menu after exiting and running it again, you can manually download the new launcher at https://cdn.shardsofbritannia.com/launcher/SoB_Launcher.exe - simply replace the copy in your game folder with the freshly downloaded copy and you're good to go!

We recently introduced a new launcher app that not only serves as a foundation for us to add more features to the game but also acts as an anti-cheat measure. Our team is working hard to fix client bugs and add new features to enhance your gameplay experience.

We want to remind everyone that cheating undermines the integrity of the game and negatively impacts the experience of other players. Therefore, we have a zero-tolerance policy towards cheating, and anyone caught cheating or conspiring to cheat will be removed from our community.

We understand that enforcing these measures takes time and resources away from developing new features and fixing bugs, but it is necessary to maintain the health of our game and community.

If you had the client and launcher open already, please close the client (the launcher will auto-close when you do) and start again from the launcher. A small update will download and you'll be good to go.

This launcher is the start of a longer project that will enable us to expand on our current level of client access, add new features, distribute custom sound and music, and also lets us more easily and flexibly troubleshoot issues as they happen.

Please note, as previously mentioned, our launcher is NOT compatible with Steam-based accounts (i.e. accounts that you are currently logging into using Steam). Options for Steam players will be in the new /play page when it is updated.
