The server is coming online now. A few points to note:
If you had the client and launcher open already, please close the client (the launcher will auto-close when you do) and start again from the launcher. A small update will download and you'll be good to go.
For anyone wanting to multibox, please refer to https://shardsofbritannia.com/play for details. We are working to improve the method to launch multiple client instances and will advise further when that's done.

During our next maintenance window (9am UTC), we will be introducing our new launcher that we posted about recently. For instructions on how to use it, please refer to https://shardsofbritannia.com/play - those instructions will be updated to include the new launcher approximately 5 minutes prior to the restart.
Please note - the server will be offline for up to 3 hours during this maintenance window in order to implement the changes required. It may come online sooner than this, please watch #news for any updates
This launcher is the start of a longer project that will enable us to expand on our current level of client access, add new features, distribute custom sound and music, and also lets us more easily and flexibly troubleshoot issues as they happen.
Please note, as previously mentioned, our launcher is NOT compatible with Steam-based accounts (i.e. accounts that you are currently logging into using Steam). Options for Steam players will be in the new /play page when it is updated.

We are working diligently to address the recent lag issues which causes stuttering and freezes in-game from time to time. We hope to have the issues improved very soon and appreciate your patience through the rough patches!
This is a reminder of our House Vacation Hold policy. If you or someone you know is unable to attend the game for an extended period and you own a house, please contact us. We will be happy to consider your request to put the house(s) on Vacation Hold to prevent decay over a longer time frame.

There appears to be an unexpected outage with the Legends of Aria login server, preventing players from logging into the game currently. We've alerted Citadel Studios and hope the issue is resolved quickly, thanks for your patience!

We're aware of ongoing lag issues, particularly in the Britain region. Please bear with us while we work through identifying the root cause and hopefully finding a fix ASAP. At this time, leaving the affected region and returning ~15 minutes later should result in a better experience in most cases.

We have some exciting changes planned for Shards of Britannia, and as a first step, we will soon be 'launching' our own customised game launcher. More details on that will follow when it is time (When It's Done!).
Due to this change, Steam accounts will no longer work. If you are still using Steam to log into any of your accounts, then please read the following:

This faction pillar has been split into its own region as a test case. It's in the same location, however you'll now transition out of Minoc proper and into this new region when going to this Faction Pillar.
Please let us know of any weirdness, however we expect this should greatly improve the performance of this pillar. All going well, we will look to do the same for other pillars in the future.

This is a reminder that the following events are coming to an end at 9:00 AM UTC on Jan 15th:
If you still have a vendor rented at the Bazaar when the deadline passes, the vendor's equipment, gold & contents will be moved to your account vault, and you will receive a notice in-game to retrieve it.
Santa will remain at his workshop until the end of the month to give players time to wrap up any pending trades & purchases, however, the Elf Camps and Christmas Paragons will no longer spawn.
The staff will take 1 week after the House Deco Contest deadline to vote on the winners & to do a public People's Choice vote, please stay tuned for more about that.

Citadel Studios has pushed a new client update, and we understand that a few folks are having trouble updating. The client update is not mandatory, so you can simply run ‘Legends of Aria.exe’ directly from the game folder to bypass the launcher, and create a shortcut icon to make this easier.

There appears to be an outage with the LOA Login Server and we've alerted Citadel Studios of the issue. We hope it's resolved quickly, but in the meantime, players will be unable to connect to any servers. We'll alert you as soon as it's been restored, thanks for your patience

But oh no, a gust of wind has blown, Some gifts away, they're now scattered and sown, Throughout Dagger Isle, they're hard to find, But with your help, we'll gather them, that's no lie.
Beware the Paragon monsters too, They're spreading out, that much is true, But don't be afraid, have courage and might, Together we'll defeat them, it'll be all right.
So come on, let's search high and low, For the scattered gifts, let's make them grow, In number once more, let's make them shine, Thanks to you, it'll all work out just fine.
Winter monsters, mean and cold, Have come to take the candy canes, so bold. They've taken all the sweets, it's quite a feat, But fear not, for we can save Christmas, complete.
The Elves, they need the candy canes to make presents bright, But without them, Santa's workshop won't be right. The monsters have set up encampments all around, On Dagger Isle, the players must be found.
Beware the Paragon monsters in the Daily Dungeon too, They'll try to stop you, there's no doubt it's true. But don't be afraid, have courage and might, Slay the monsters, retrieve the candy canes, and all will be right.
Bring the candy canes to Santa at his workshop with glee, He'll trade them for gifts, just wait and see. Thanks to you, the Elves can work once more, And presents will be made, that's for sure.
So go forth, brave players, and do your part, Retrieve the candy canes and bring them to Santa's heart. The monsters may be mean, but you are strong, You'll defeat them, and all will be right before too long.

In order to make room for the Snowball Fight arena Santa's Workshop has been moved to the bigger island nearby, but not attached to, Dagger Isle. You can get to this island from the Dagger Mountains tunnel.

Santa's Mailbox has popped up at Windemere bank. Players can write a Note and place it in the mailbox to be delivered to Santa's Workshop at the North Pole! Santa may write you back, and you may be able to visit his workshop in the coming days if you've been good this year!
Autumn has ended & winter has arrived! Bazaar vendor deeds have been placed around Windemere bank, on Dagger Isle, for the Winter Bazaar. Winter Bazaar vendors will be available until 1/15/23. A snowy tunnel has been dug between Windemere and West Britain for easy access throughout the event. Happy trading!
This is a reminder that the Autumn Bazaar at Britain Bank is ending on December 1st at 9 am UTC. If you have a vendor rented after the deadline passes, the vendor's gold, equipment & backpack contents will be packed up into your account vault for later retrieval. Shards of Britannia is now Free to Play for everyone! Invite your friends and family :)
Due to this change, and in order to keep things fair for everyone, we are now limiting the number of accounts that players are allowed to use, per household, effective immediately. Going forward, players are allowed to use up to 4 accounts per household. Accounts created prior to 11/22/22 should be considered grandfathered and will not be subject to limitations at this time. Patron Benefits will continue to provide the same benefits to the advertised amount of accounts, but we may amend the Patron Benefits in the future to better reflect the new limit, without affecting grandfathered accounts.
In order to determine which accounts you are allowed to use, all of your related accounts are considered by the date in which you first logged into Shards of Britannia. If you log in to a new account or an existing account that is beyond the limit, in order of creation date, you would be prevented from playing any characters on that account.
We will be amending the rules page to reflect this new limit as well. Thanks for playing fair!
